The famous Japanese retailer BEAMS unveils a new eye-catching collaboration. After having partnered in the last few months with major international brands such as Levi’s, Clarks, Reebok or Salomon (articles available on this site), the concept store, created by Etsuzo Shitara 45 years ago, meets up with its compatriot MIZUNO.
For this new opus, BEAMS has reinterpreted, once again, the famous MIZUNO Wave Rider 10 silhouette.
After a taupe version released in 2020, the retailer further reshapes the silhouette to match current expectations. The shoe appears laceless, sporting a slip-on look influenced by the lockdown times we’ve just experienced and the resulting need for relaxation and activity. True to its signature style, BEAMS equips this Wave Rider 10 with a military-inspired design, with minimalist alterations and subtle details.
According to the teaser, it comes in an all-olive green colorway and features a woven base with corrugated leather overlays. In place of laces, a ballistic mesh tongue overlay provides support and looks. The branding details seem very discreet and delicate reflective accents, especially on the heel and tongue pulls, could embellish the pair. The whole is based on a comfortable, performance sole that matches the upper.
The BEAMS x Mizuno Wave Rider 10 Laceless will be released on February 19, 2022 exclusively at BEAMS, in stores and online at beams.co.jp, priced at 172 $ (19 800 ¥).
