A few days ago, the famous Japanese retailer BEAMS teased a collaboration with Gore-Tex and the popular American brand New Balance based on the fashionable silhouette, the 2002R. This exclusive version was fully unveiled today and gets an official release date.
After the success of its last collaboration with asics and its triple collaboration with Paperboy and New Balance, BEAMS reunites with the legendary Boston brand for an exclusive project that should be of great interest to lovers of quality sneakers.
The 2002R reworked by the Japanese shop pays homage to the cult color grey of New Balance.
It consists of an upper combining mesh and gray nubuck, reinforced by a waterproof Gore-Tex construction. For a nice touch of contrast, the side N logo is dressed in deep blue with subtle patterns and light grey outlines. The black Gore-Tex tag adorns the under-ankle area, above the famous blue/orange ‘2002R’, and the tongue is adorned with a blue insert with branding details in light grey and orange (BEAMS’ signature color). The Japanese shop’s name only stands out on the insole. To harmoniously complete the clean and stylish look, the tongue, laces, inner lining and performance sole with N-Ergy and ABZORB technology are presented in grey.
The BEAMS x GORE-TEX x New Balance 2002R will be released on February 4, 2023 in Japan, in stores and online at beams.co.jp for $196 (¥25,300), with a launch in other countries around the world coming soon, so stay tuned !
