BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090

The equipment manufacturer ASICS continues to present us hyper interesting collabs. After having recently teamed up with the famous Boston shop CONCEPTS on the GEL-Lyte 3 silhouette (article available HERE), the Japanese brand finds its compatriot BAPE, one of the giants of streetwear.

The last collaboration between the 2 partners dates back to 2015 with the « Tiger Pack » which included a GEL-Kayano Trainer and a GEL-Lyte V. After 6 years of absence, Asics and BAPE are back with a brand new GEL-1090.

Just like the 2015 collaborative pairs, this sneaker is dressed in the BAPE signature Camo pattern and continues the Tiger theme. We find the Camo print on the mesh upper, combined with olive green suede overlays. The side panels feature Asics’ iconic Tiger Stripes, here in a combination of orange, black and charcoal, while the medial panels feature BAPE’s TIGER head graphic. This design is complemented by orange « tiger claws » on the overlays at the toe and heel. Black accents such as the tongue, inner lining, collar and laces, soften the design. The Asics and BAPE logos each adorn one of the 2 tongues, alongside the embroidered silhouette name. The look is finalized by a Camo insole with the brandings coupled and a black sole featuring an orange reminder of the « tiger claws ».

The pair comes in a special box covered in BAPE Camo.

The BAPE x ASICS GEL-1090 is expected to be released before the end of this year 2021, at select retailers and on bape.com. We will not miss to give you the last official details, stay tuned !
