Japanese streetball-inspired brand BALLAHOLIC has teamed up with equipment manufacturer ASICS to reimagine the GEL-Quantum 180 lifestyle silhouette. This collaborative version comes in a fresh, retro colorway and a modern, comfort-oriented construction. The perfect combo to enjoy the upcoming warm weather.
The two partners have collaborated in the past, but on sneakers and items related to BALLAHOLIC’s influences, basketball. So this is the first time that the steetball brand revisits a lifestyle silhouette, which makes this collaboration unique and innovative.
The shoe features a very light pearl grey breathable mesh upper, complemented by different color overlays : blue on the midfoot and tongue, then dark grey on the toe, heel counter and Tigers Stripes. Forest green accents accentuate the design, especially on the heel, under-ankle area and upper eyelets. Yellow laces, outsole and BALLAHOLIC branding on the side heel add a nice touch of contrast and freshness. The asics branding appears in tonal embroidery on the forest green tongue tag and the yellow co-branding adorns the blue insole. The whole is based on a cream-colored midsole with a 50/50 cushioning configuration, which combines a GEL heel and midfoot with a FLYTEFOAM forefoot.
The Ballaholic x asics GEL-Quantum 180 is currently available in Japan. It will be released at select retailers in other parts of the world and on asics.com on March 24, 2021, at a suggested retail price of 150$.
