Awake NY x Jordan Air Ship

Almost a year ago, the Swoosh brand’s cult silhouette, the Air Ship, made a remarkable comeback through a collaboration with the shop A MA MANIERE. Today, the famous shoe ‘banned’ by the NBA appears reinvented by Angelo Baque’s brand, AWAKE NY.

This collaborative model was unveiled at the opening party of the AWAKE NY shop on New York’s Lower East Side.

For the record, the Nike Air Ship was designed by the talented Bruce Kilgore and was the 1st Nike shoe worn by Michael Jordan when he made his NBA debut in 1984. It was particularly memorable for its coloring, which didn’t respect the NBA uniform code and was therefore nicknamed the “banned” shoe.

According to the preview, the version designed by Angelo Baque sports a retro chic look. It consists of a white leather base with matching overlays, a silver side Swoosh and mismatched elements. The outlines of the side Swoosh logo, the snakeskin collar and the vertical stripe on the heel are presented in Gym Red on the right foot and Game Royal on the left. To affirm the collab, the AWAKE NY ‘A’ logo is subtly embroidered on the lateral forefoot. The whole is based on a yellowed midsole that confirms the vintage style and on a gum outsole. The pair comes with a ‘Jumpman’ hangtag and will be delivered in a special box.

The Awake NY x Jordan Air Ship will be released over the coming months, at selected retailers and on nike.com. For the latest official news, stay tuned !
