During its Spring/Summer 2022 show at Paris Fashion Week, Japanese fashion house AURALEE unveiled a new collaboration with sportswear brand NEW BALANCE. Following the 550, 2002R and R_C2 silhouettes reinterpreted last year (articles available on this site), Ryota Iwai’s label brings its touch to the new shoe of the equipment manufacturer, the XC-72.
This special version comes in 3 harmonious colors reminiscent of nature and corresponding to the clothes of the Spring/Summer collection of AURALEE : sandy yellow, river blue and earthy brown.
All 3 iterations are dressed in tonal shades but in subtly different premium material choices. Crafted with nubuck, leather and suede, the sand and earthY pairs sport a short-haired suede upper while the blue version is adorned with long-haired suede. To ensure design harmony, the tongue, overlays, side N logo, laces and iconic heel clip arrive in tone in tone with the titular color. On the yellow and blue iterations, the heel clip, midsole and signature outsole going up the toe box are also presented in tonal color. On the brown pair these previously stated elements appear in black, providing a touch of contrast.
