The Tokyo-based reference shop atmos continues its strong partnership with the German brand adidas. After recently celebrating the arrival of spring with the ZX « SETSUBUN » pack (article available HERE), the Japanese retailer is once again revisiting the legendary Superstar silhouette. To design this iteration called « Mt. Fuji », atmos called upon the Three Tides Tattoo group of tattoo artists, especially UKI YOEMON.
The Superstar is adorned with a white leather upper serving as a base for an elegant Japanese motif: Mt. Fuji, specially designed by UKI YOEMON. Mount Fuji and the surrounding fireworks symbolize Japan and its culture. This chic and meticulous work by UKI YOEMON pays homage to the ancestral Japanese art. It exudes a different atmosphere on the side and medial panels, one bright and positive and the other darker and more mysterious. The iconic adidas 3-stripes are transparent to leave the pattern fully visible. To complete the design, the laces appear in bright colors reminiscent of Japanese indigo, and at the side heel, a red label with the name atmos in katakana is added. This embodies the Japanese brand’s concept of « spreading Tokyo’s sneaker culture to the world ». The other elements of the shoe, such as the tongue, laceguard, inner lining, heel tab, rubber shell on the toe box and sole, are white, further highlighting UKI YOEMON’s work.
This triple collaboration also includes a revisited adidas track top. It’s black with the usual adidas white branding details. Its originality is based on the graphic work of Three Tides Tattoo on the back. This print is inspired by the shoe’s pattern, while taking on a slightly different look. The atmos branding and the adidas Trefoil logo stand out in white in the middle of this artwork.
