After bringing its signature touch to the iconic adidas Originals ADIMATIC model (article available HERE), the Japanese shop ATMOS finds another faithful partner : the equipment manufacturer ASICS, for a new project, triple collaborative this time. The famous Australian magazine SNEAKER FREAKER has participated in the design of a brand new GEL-Lyte III named « Alley Cats ».
The 90’s runner features a fresh look inspired by the « Alley Cats » that roam the mini-boulevards of Tokyo and Melbourne, the respective birthplaces of atmos and Sneaker Freaker.
To reference these animals, the famous split-tongue shoe is dressed in luxurious grey velvet cowhide at the overlays and glow-in-the-dark stripes reminiscent of cats’ fur and eyes that glow in the night. The different shades of purple and lime green satin on the other parts of the shoe serve to mimic the atmosphere given by the neon lights in the streets of the 2 cities. This special purple shade is the result of mixing the atmos blue with the classic red Sneaker Freaker logo. The 2 partners combined their respective signature colors to immortalize this collaboration. As for the rest of the construction, the rubber nets on the quarter panel and heel make their comeback in black color, matching the inner lining. The « atmos Tokyo » and « Sneaker Freaker » logos are embroidered in black on the split tongue on the left and right foot respectively. They are also embossed on each heel and affixed to the insole. The whole is based on a two-tone white/purple speckled midsole and a three-tone black/white/lime green outsole.
To ensure the best matchings, the pair comes with 2 sets of rope laces, in black or lime green speckled with black.
The atmos x Sneaker Freaker x asics GEL-Lyte III OG « Alley Cats » will be released on June 25, 2022 via an open raffle starting June 20, 2022 on atmos-tokyo.com. It will then be available at most Atmos stores. To celebrate the launch, a Pop-Up will be held at the Atmos Tokyo Propeller Street store from June 18 to 19, 2022. T-shirts especially for this event and a range of SNEAKER FREAKER magazines will also be available. During these 2 days, the artist Shunichi Kayano will organize a free workshop of miniature shoes creation (from 1:20 pm to 3:00 pm, 8 people/day max, with a prior registration).
