ATMOS x New Balance M2002RAT

The famous Japanese shop ATMOS continues to team up with the biggest sportswear brands to spread the Japanese culture around the world. For this new release, Koji and his team have worked with New Balance to reinterpret the popular 2002R.

Atmos joins the great list of shops and designers who have already put their touch to the modernized version of the NB 2002 of 2010, such as Salehe Bembury, Joe Freshgoods, GIANNI or BAPE (several articles available on this site).

The reinterpreted version designed by Atmos is named NB 2002RAT.
Made mostly from mesh, leather and suede, it features a design integrating materials in grey tones to refer to the rats that run in the streets of Shibuya. The shoe also features blue accents inspired by underground waterways. To affirm the theme, underneath the iconic N logo on the side are nubuck leather inserts adorned with engraved rat footprint patterns. Also, the toe is presented in a natural Halaco leather imitating the hair of the famous rodent. The whole is based on a white midsole coupled with a black outsole with a touch of « atmos blue ».

For the visuals of this pair, Atmos called on the music collective 5MC HIPHOP Sound’s Deli.

The Atmos x New Balance M2002RAT will be released on May 28, 2022 via an open raffle on atmos-tokyo.com at a price of $155 (19,800¥). This special version will only be available in Atmos Japan and Korea, on the New Balance online store in Japan.
