Invested in street culture and arts, the Japanese shop ATMOS unveils a new exclusive collaboration. This new project honors the Japanese artist Kazuo Umezu aka “the God of horror manga”(© KAZUO UMEZZ / SHOGAKUKAN). The retailer offers us a selection of articles based on the female characters drawn by the famous Japanese manga specialist.
Passionate about drawing, Kazuo Umezu created his first comics at the age of 10. At the age of 19 (1955), he started his professional career and mainly realized works for manga rental bookshops, the Kashibonya, very popular in Japan. He became one of the pioneers of romantic comedy before specializing in horror manga, of which he is now considered the creator and master.
This collection is particularly inspired by some manga written and illustrated by Kazuo Umezo: « Orochi », « Baptism » and « I am Shingo ».
It consists of a white or black short-sleeved t-shirt, 2 sets of t-shirt & sweatpants in tie-dye treatment in shades of blue/pink or black/white and a white/red striped pyjama with a matching night cap. These pieces feature feminine illustrations by Kazuo Umezu and co-branding.
To complement this selection of clothing, AVIC sneakers were also created. They consist of a white base, covered with red or black stripes that extend to the sides of the sole and insole. The tongue tag is adorned with the co-branding, as well as an illustration of a frightened woman’s eye.
Accessories are also offered : 3 colorful and illustrated skateboards, and a flower pot designed in triple collaboration with the gardening brand BOTANIZE.
To commemorate this Atmos x Kazuo Umezu collaboration, a POP UP will take place at the atmos propeller street store in Shibuya, Tokyo, from November 26 to December 5, 2021. Items will be available for a price ranging from 92$ (10450¥) for the flower pot to 437€ (49500¥) for the skateboards and 120$ (13700¥) for the sneakers.
