In November 2018, the Japanese shop ATMOS released a collaborative ASICS GEL-Lyte III covered with an audacious « World Map » print. A few months ago, last April, the 2 partners enriched the « Map Series » by offering us an attractive « Subway Pack ». To close this collection, Koji and his team reworked once again the iconic slit tongue silhouette to give it an aged look.
The 1st iteration was simply named « World Map ». Atmos wanted to take inspiration from the changing look over the years for its new 2022 iteration and named it « Aged Map ».
This ‘aged’ version of the original model takes the design of the 2018 GEL-Lyte III collaborative, while modifying it to look like it has undergone the effects of time passing.
It consists of an upper covered in an ‘ancient world map’ print that has yellowed over time and faded in color. For reference, the inner lining, laces and midsole appear in beige and the heel clip in faded green. The model name stands out in white embroidery on the heel counter and the atmos branding is also discreetly embroidered in white on the back of the heel. Above this stylish ASICS detail, the silver ‘compass’ logo adorns the white heel window. Navy blue Tigers Stripes and graphic insoles complete the look. The whole is based on a tri-color, navy blue/off-white/faded green rubber outsole that provides the harmonious finishing touch.
The atmos x ASICS SportStyle GEL-Lyte III OG « Aged Map » will be released on December 9, 2022 for $143 (¥19,250), in stores and online at atmos-tokyo.com via a raffle available on the site starting December 5, 2022. Let’s go !
