[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text]Japanese brand Asics and London-based Bulgarian fashion designer Kiko Kostadinov continue their series of collaborations. Building on the success of the models born from their association, they are back today to present a women’s shoe, designed in conjunction with Kiko’s Spring/Summer 2020 collection and mixing two completely different Asics silhouettes. This modern hybrid model, combining precision and manufacturing art, is called « Gel-Aurania ».
The pair is available in two colorways : The first « earthen tone », ranging from terracotta to brown, plum and red. The second « Mechanical Machine », corresponding to a shade of grey and emerald green.
In order to create his first women’s shoe of the season, Kiko Kostadinov wanted to combine a silhouette from the archives with a model benefiting from the latest Asics innovations.
The upper in mesh and leather is borrowed from the « Skysensor Slash JJ » running shoe. To express the designer’s traditional and folk fashion style, here the mesh has graphic prints and the overlays are made of patent leather. The pair also combines the technical features of the cushioning system of the « Gel-Qantum Infinity Jin ».
We find the lacing system that allows one-handed tightening. The lace wraps upward from the toe toward the ankle in a precise zig-zag pattern on the tongue. An impressive Asics “A” logo sits on the tongue, which is smaller than the cut-out on the top of the shoe, allowing a glimpse of the sock or pantyhose. This design detail accentuates the feminine side of the pair and can be an undeniable matching asset.
The whole is based on a sole with Gel technology whose heel highlighting, thanks to the cut-out and the choice of the brightest colour of the pair, finishes to feminise the model.
For those who want the perfect match, the clothes and accessories of the Spring/Summer 2020 Kostadinov collection feature the same colours as the Aurania and also mixes spherical graphics and curves.
