In addition to working on innovative silhouettes and environmentally conscious design methods, the ASICS brand is committed to the community. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the Japanese label invited students from Charlotte Lab School, a progressive public institution, to attend a special program in partnership with the American Whitaker Group. A collection of GEL-Lyte V « Eternal Summer » was born from this association.
This exclusive program allowed Charlotte Lab School students to participate in creation, design, marketing, merchandising and sales in the footwear industry. These students logged into a virtual learning platform hosted by The Whitaker Group and ASICS team leaders. The sessions eventually lasted over 2 years and through the dedication and joint effort, a limited edition « Eternal Summer » collection inspired by the summer vacations was designed.
The students are also invested in the launch process of the capsule. An A to Z program on the sneaker industry and trade.
This special GEL-Lyte V is declined in 2 colorways, white/orange-yellow, white/grey. Limited to 1500 pairs worldwide, it has a numbered tag on the side heel.
Made of mesh and suede, these shoes have a look inspired by the students’ love for summer, its sunrises and sunsets. This style evokes moments of festivities and exchanges between friends, all that was missing during the restrictions due to the pandemic.
The 1st version features white mesh on the toe box and heel, accented with neutral grey suede inserts and a coral orange quarter panel. Yellow leather midfoot overlays and navy blue Tigers Stripes complete the look. The whole is based on a coral orange midsole and a white and navy blue outsole.
The 2nd version combines white mesh and neutral grey suede overlays throughout the foot. A subtle touch of contrast is provided by sage green Tigers Stripes and a royal blue inner lining. Embroidered branding details at the tongue and heel are also in this shade of blue. A white midsole with a salmon pink section under the heel and a tricolor sage green/white/salmon pink outsole finish the design harmoniously.
The ASICS Gel Lyte V « Eternal Summer », limited to 1500 pairs, will be released on December 17, 2022 in Social Status stores and online at socialstatutspgh.com, priced at $140 per pair. Be ready !
