Japanese sportswear giant ASICS unveils a new version of its legendary split tongue silhouette. A few hours after offering us an « Aged Map » in collaboration with its compatriot ATMOS, the equipment manufacturer presents a brand new GEL-Lyte III « Recycled Felt ».

The 1991 model has an innovative look that symbolizes the eco-responsible approach of the brand.

This special GEL-Lyte III is made of a recycled waste underlay, in this case reused felt. Mostly grey with black threads and blue or yellow stitching details, this material is made visible through a fully transparent upper. Additional colorful touches are provided by the branding details : the side Tigers Stripes are dressed in orange-pink, while ‘GEL LYTE III’ on the side heel and ‘asics’ on the back heel stand out in white. The look is completed with a white/yellow graphic tag sewn onto the quarter panel, an electric blue mesh heel window featuring the orange-pink ‘GEL’ and a teal back clip matching the zigzag stitching that adorns various parts of the underlay. The whole is based on a white midsole and a grey outsole that harmoniously finalize the design.

The ASICS GEL-LYTE III « Recycled Felt » is now available in Japan at select retailers like Mita Sneakers for a price of $113 (¥15,400). A global release is expected to follow, stay tuned !
