The Japanese brand ASICS is involved in ecological approaches to recycling and sustainable development. To celebrate Earth Day 2021, the famous equipment manufacturer has created a sneaker pack that recycles the equivalent of 25,000 t-shirts destined for the trash. This collection consists of 5 silhouettes including the iconic GEL-Lyte III OG.
Other reinvented models are the GEL-Nimbus 23, Glideride 2, Tarther Blast and Skycourt. Sportswear was also designed in the same eco-responsible spirit to complete this collection. All these pieces represent 5 tons of recycled waste. To affirm the ecological commitment, all items are presented in neutral colors that require less water, inks and dyes for the coloring process.
Retaining its original 90’s shape, the GEL-Lyte III OG features an updated durable construction, the usual materials have been replaced. The shoe consists of a cream-colored recycled textile upper with matching eco-leather overlays. The design is completed with beige Tiger Stripes and a heel reinforcement in a slightly darker shade of color. The iconic split tongue, inner lining, laces and midsole appear in cream. A beige heel clip and embroidered brandings in tonal colors ensure the look. The final design touch is provided by the gum outsole.
The Asics GEL-Lyte III OG « Earth Day », like the other silhouettes of this pack, is expected to be released for Earth Day, on April, 22, 2021 at select retailers and on asics.com, for a price of 130$.
