The Japanese brand Asics continues to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the Gel Lyte III, by offering it again with its original shape and construction. The iconic split-tongue silhouette, created by Shigeyuki Mitsui in 1990, is now presented in futuristic neon colorways : one Lyte III Gel named « Aquarium » and the other « Lime Zest ».
The shoe consists of a blue or yellow/green neon knit upper, depending on the iteration, with tone-on-tone leather overlays. To unify the look, the laces, tongue, collar and heel clip appear in the same colour as the upper. Of these two pairs, black colour was chosen to define the contours of the Asics side stripes, leather heel and inner lining, affirming the elegant design. To add a touch of contrast and originality, the blue shoe features neon orange accents on the toe, the inside of the Asics signature stripes and the front side of the midsole. As for the lemon zest colorway iteration, it remains two-tone yellow and black. The Asics branding and the silhouette name embroidered on the heel tab and heel counter respectively complete the design. The whole is based on the signature Gel technology midsole in matching colour with the upper and a black outsole.
