Andersson Bell x ASICS HN2-S PROTOBLAST Series

For our pleasure, the brand ASICS is making attractive collaborations. While the release of the GEL-Lyte III remodeled by SNEAKER POLITICS is approaching (article available HERE), the Japanese sportswear giant confirms a new project with the Seoul-based fashion label, ANDERSSON BELL. Teased for several days, the HN2-S PROTOBLAST trio gets an official launch date.

The HN2-S PROTOBLAST is part of the traditional pairs of the asics brand modernized by the designer-artistic director Kiko Kostadinov and his team. Released in early 2022, this shoe is a technical runner with a hybrid design combining various materials. It has a style corresponding to a mixture of different sneakers of the Japanese brand. As is often the case with Kiko Kostadinov, the sneaker consists of a mesh upper covered with a colorful and shiny overlay.

With the ANDERSSON BELL touch, this HN2-S PROTOBLAST is adorned with additional novel details.

In its Instagram posts, the Korean brand explains the inspirations behind this collab. Each version pays homage to a blockbuster movie, « that intrigued us when we were kids ».

The 1st one refers to the temple in the jungle ruins in « Indiana Jones », the 2nd one was created by imagining the shark from « Jaws » becoming a zombie that would be turned into a boat by a fisherman, and the 3rd one represents the incredible Batmobile of the iconic hero « Batman ».

Available in Butter/Chocolate Brown, Smoke Grey/Seagrass and Black/Graphite Grey respectively, these special versions feature a breathable mesh upper enhanced by technical patent leather overlays and sporting massive Tigers Stripes on the sides. Extending the rugged trail-inspired look, the base features additions like metal bindings for an additional second lacing system and branded metal studs reminiscent of mountaineering boots. The whole is based on a matching midsole in the upper with black boomerang cushioning.

The Andersson Bell x ASICS HN2-S PROTOBLAST were released on May 27, 2022 at 10am KST on the brand’s website en.anderssonbell.com and are expected to arrive soon at select retailers and on asics.com.
