Tinker Hatfield made sneaker history with the creation of the Nike Air Max 1, and the legendary designer, also Nike’s vice president of design and special projects, is still involved in innovative projects and is interested in the NFT phenomenon. He unveils a never-before-seen AM1 « UO Flying Formation » that will be released to accompany the launch of the NFT « Ducks Of A Feather ».
Tinker Hatfield said of the project, « The inspiration for the NFT design came from fraternity stories of Oregon football players. I wanted to represent both the unity and individuality of the players on the team, represented by the ‘Oregon Duck’. As a former Oregon student-athlete, I clearly remember the sense of brotherhood that exists within our teams, and it was an honor to create a representation of that through the design of Flying Formations. »
This project is born out of DIVISION STREET, the platform created by Phil Knight and other University of Oregon alumni, which aims to help aspiring athletes manage/develop their image and connect with fans.
NFT’s first « Flying Formations » collection includes 120 unique « Ducks Of A Feather » avatars. Tinker Hatfield wanted to join the virtual world of NFT with the physical world of sneakers : with the purchase of an NFT, a pair of AM1 « UO Flying Formation » is offered. This exclusive pair, which pays tribute to the famous Oregon football team, has a bold look.
It consists of a neon green mesh base complemented by light green suede upper overlays. The suede mudguard also comes in a dark green hue and the side Swoosh appears multi-colored striped with black outlines. This same design is applied to the insole and tongue logo featuring the famous NFT Duck. A dark green inner lining, neon green midsole and black outsole finish off the look nicely.
The event will take place on February 20, 2022 at 13pm on ducksofafeather.xyz under the principle of a Dutch auction (which starts with a high price and gradually decreases). The NFT « Ducks Of A Feather » will be priced at 12.5 ETH (a little over 36300$) and can go down to 1 ETH (nearly 2800$). About 70% of the proceeds from the auction of the collection will go to the members of the Ducks soccer team, while 10% will go to DIVISION STREET to be distributed to other football teams.
