Earlier this year, the Jumpman brand had given a preview of its Spring 2023 line. Among the 6 exclusive models presented, a red Air Jordan 5 had attracted attention. Today, Jordan Brand shares the details and announces the official release date.
Previously released under the name « Mars for Her », this AJ 5 « Dunk on Mars » is inspired by the planet Mars and also pays homage to Mars Blackmon, the fictional character played by Spike Lee in the 1986 movie « She’s Gotta Have It ».
This special red AJ5 is reminiscent of the « Raging Bull » iteration originally released in 2009 and re-released in 2021.
The revamped silhouette consists of a scarlet suede upper with matching overlays and contrasted by yellowed translucent netting on the quarter panel, as well as black elements : the eyelets, inner lining and midsole. The Jumpman logo adorns the reflective silver tongue, while the famous number ’23’ is subtly embroidered on the side heel. To complete the look, the shark tooth detailing on the midsole is presented in orange and red to mimic flames. The lace lock appears translucent yellowed and thus matches the nettings. The whole is based on a translucent rubber outsole also yellowed that reveals the red Jumpman logo under the foot.
The Air Jordan 5 Retro « Dunk on Mars » will be released on January 14, 2023 for $200, in women’s sizes, at select retailers and on Nike’s SNKRS app.
