Air Jordan 1 Mid « Familia »

While an Air Jordan IV honoring Coach Jackson has just surfaced (article available HERE), the Jumpman brand would also work on a new AJ 1 Mid. This silhouette will be dedicated, again this year, to the celebration of « Dia de Muertos ».

Last year, Jordan Brand wanted to pay tribute to Mexico, its traditions and cultural heritage through a collection « Dia de Muertos » composed of 4 flagship silhouettes of the brand (article available on this site).

The AJ 1 Mid presented today, perhaps as part of a larger 2021 collection to come, abandons the white and purple colors of last year for a more aggressive black and red. The color scheme may appear as a nod to the famous « Bred » colorway, while adding details honoring Mexican culture. The shoe features a combination of thick suede and shiny Safari textured leather. The toe box stands out in red and features small white inserts in the shape of pointed teeth along the seam. The iconic side Swoosh is reinterpreted in artistic embroidery inspired by Mexican craftsmanship. It combines the colors red, blue and yellow, as well as the Wing logo in its usual place. To complete the tribute, « Familia » adorns the tongue tag alongside the legendary red Jumpman logo. A white midsole and red rubber outsole finish off the look.

The Air Jordan 1 Mid « Familia » will be released during the month of October 2021, at select retailers and nike.com, priced at 125$. More details to come, stay tuned !
