Air Jordan 1 High Zoom Space Hippie

The basketball shoe subsidiary Jordan Brand, continues the commitment to sustainable development initiated by Nike. In connection with the eco-responsible Space Hippie collection launched in June 2020 (article available HERE), the Jumpman’s brand presents an Air Jordan 1 High Zoom made from scraps of fabric and recycled materials, initially destined to end up in the American company’s trash can.

The shoe combines the heritage of Peter Moore’s legendary design with an environmental approach.

The Air Jordan 1 High Zoom consists of a dark grey and black textured canvas upper, created using plastic bottles and scraps of recycled fabric. This pair has a understated look and features a side Swoosh, laces and stitching in black color. Simply the stitching on the heel counter and the tongue label adds a touch of red contrast. A discreet tag with the inscription Zoom is sewn under the ankle and this same branding appears in white on the black tongue label. We find a collar and a tongue padded with visible foam. The red insole is an interesting reminder of this minority colour on the upper. To finalize the approach, the whole is based on a white speckled midsole and a grey outsole made of Nike Grind rubber and recycled materials. The full-length Zoom Air cushioning adds to the comfort a feeling of optimal reactivity.

The Air Jordan 1 High Zoom Space Hippie is scheduled for release on September 12, 2020, on Nike.com and at selected retailers for 170€. Good cop !
