During the Miami 2020 pre-fall men’s fashion show, the prestigious haute couture brand DIOR unveiled a sneaker designed in collaboration with the Jordan Brand teams : the Air Jordan 1 OG Dior High . After a 6-month wait, the release of an « Air Dior » collection, including two versions of Air Jordan 1 OG Dior, a High and a Low, was announced.
This first collaboration, between these two famous brands from different worlds, is intended to be a unifying one. We find Jordan Brand’s DNA with a touch of Dior’s own sophistication, applied here by its artistic director Kim Jones.
The color palette is inspired by Michael Jordan’s sportswear aesthetics of the 1980s and Dior’s fetish shades : off-white and grey. The construction of this high-end sneaker is « Made in Italy ». The shoes are made of an upper in off-white premium calf leather with pearl grey overlays. The iconic Swoosh on the side is dressed in the delicately embroidered black Dior monogram. The Air Dior branding is found on the tongue label and the emblematic Wings engraved on the ankle (for the High pair). These two logos are respectively revealed under the translucent outsole of each foot. To complete the understated and elegant design, the inner lining and laces are pearl grey. The whole is based on a white midsole and an icy translucent outsole.
At the same time, a collection of ready-to-wear and accessories will be available from July 8, 2020 in Dior boutiques in Paris, London, Dubai and major American cities (Article available HERE). This range will include sportswear such as hoodies, t-shirts, polo shirts and trousers, as well as leather items, aviators’ jackets, blazers and wool suits.
The Air Jordan 1 OG Dior High and Low sneakers will be available during July 2020, in limited edition and only online via Dior’s terms and conditions, probably a random draw. Details have not been communicated but a “first come, first served” system can be expected. Stay tuned and be quick !
