After unveiling a new collaborative project based on the NB 1300 in August 2020 (article available HERE), the famous New York streetwear brand AIME LEON DORE extends its successful partnership with New Balance. Teddy Santis, the founder of ALD, went back into the archives of the Boston-based brand to bring out an almost forgotten silhouette : The NB P550 Basketball Oxfords.
This shoe made its debut in 1989 and has never been updated since. Thanks to the inescapable designer from Queens and a lot of work, this pair is ready to come back on the market for the first time. Knowing the craze around Teddy Santis’ creations, the NB P550 Basketball Oxfords has a great chance to finally become popular.
The vintage-look sneaker comes in a white/grey colorway. The upper combines smooth off-white leather and perforated. Grey elements such as the side N logo, the area under the ankle, the stitching on the vamp, the tongue co-branding and the model number « 550 » on the front side of the foot. The laces, heel and midsole appear yellowed, affirming the retro look of the pair. The whole is based on a grey rubber outsole.
The Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance P550 Basketball Oxfords is expected to be available in the coming weeks, in this fall 2020 at selected retailers and on the aimeleonodore.com website.
This silhouette was inaugurated at the feet of the young basketball players of the SONNY team. It appeared in two other colorways : white/navy blue and white/dark green… maybe next releases, stay tuned !
