The famous German boutique AFEW is once again partnering with the American brand Saucony to present a high-end project based on the emblematic running shoe that appeared in the 80’s, the Shadow 5000. This silhouette has been re-imagined to honor the most famous physicist of all time, Albert Einstein. The design of this retro shoe called « Time & Space » is inspired by his work, his research and more precisely by the theory of relativity and the concept of time and space that revolutionized the 20th century.
The pair is made with high-end materials and comes in a mismatched colorway.
It consists of a premium suede upper in deep green « school board » color (a nod to the Albert Einstein professor) with side panels in high quality grey tweed, reminiscent of the physicist’s jackets. The bottom of the heel appears in black full grain leather on both feet, while the heelcap is mismatched : white leather on the left shoe and beige on the right foot. To complete this mismatched style, the same colors are applied on the inside of the tongue, the upper eyelets and the laces. Co-branding on the tongue label with a gravitational field print, logos on the heels and laces dubraes with « Time » on one foot and « Space » on the other, add cachet to the pair. The shoe’s big highlight is the white midsole and semi-translucent outsole, both « Glow in the Dark ». To take the tribute even further, black doodles of various physics and mathematical formulas decorate the entire midsole and outsole.
The Afew x Saucony Shadow 5000 « Time & Space » will be released on September 19, 2020 at 10:00 am in the AFEW shop on a « first come, first served » basis. The AFEW team has also set up a raffle accessible via the website de.afew-store.com and ending on September 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm. Sizes ranging from EU 37.5 to EU 48, for a price of 150€. Good luck !
