After teaming up with ASICS again earlier this summer (article available HERE), the famous German shop AFEW is organizing an event called “AFEW UNITY JAM”. This neighborhood party aims to celebrate AFEW’s partnership with the AWO (Arbeiterwohlfahrt) and at the same time to mark the release of the new Air Jordan IV Retro “Black Canvas”.
The AWO is a German charity founded over 100 years ago. Its main mission is to help people in need. It mainly assists the elderly and disabled, but also runs kindergartens, schools with after-school activities, psychiatric clinics, summer camps and a counseling service for immigrants, asylum seekers and people in serious distress. AWO helps refugees to make their mark in their new country and to return to the world of work.
It’s thanks to AWO that the AFEW team was able to expand by welcoming Alpha. This young man had to flee his unstable home country of Guinea to start a new life in Germany. Alpha is now an integral part of AFEW. He is doing an apprenticeship in the order processing department.
Through the AFEW Unity Jam Block Party, the German shop pays tribute to the AWO for its important work. AFEW wants to emphasize the concept of “unity”, one of the store’s core values. Everyone knows that unity cannot be taken for granted. Especially nowadays, when borders are rising and political camps are opposing each other. So, the famous store wanted to defend the cohesion.
On the program, good moments of sharing and Discovery : a barbecue, free drinks, a streetball court open to all, an impressive dunk show as well as artistic performances by B-Boys and local dancers and animated by Taimles, the DJ -Producer based in Düsseldorf. There will also be entertainment for children.
This event will take place on the release day of the Air Jordan IV Retro “Black Canvas”. A black and grey pair that fits perfectly into the support program and can symbolize the life of Alpha.
The AFEW Unity Jam Block Party will take place on Saturday, September 3, 2022 from 3pm to 7pm at Königsberger Str. 100 (Hall B30), 40231 Düsseldorf. Enjoy !
