The famous German shop AFEW has teamed up with Japanese design master Takumi Ogata to design a textile collection combining Japanese heritage with the AFEW GOODS brand’s commitment to sustainable development. This capsule of unisex « Daruma » clothing consists of 5 pieces : a hoodie, a longsleeve, two t-shirts and a kimono.
This collection is inspired by the traditional Japanese papier-mâché figurines, the « Daruma ». They symbolize perseverance, chance and success, and are considered lucky charms. This ancestral symbol is in line with AFEW’s motto, which advocates the values of willpower, surpassing oneself and unfailing positivity. Also, with its committed brand AFEW GOODS, the Düsseldorf shop is developing the use of eco-friendly materials. The articles of this capsule are made in Portugal using 100% organic cotton, certified GOTS.
With the exception of the kimono, which is handmade in Germany. The latter is dressed in black color and has blue haze details and inscriptions coming from Japan.
The black hoodie is embellished with a Daruma logo and Japanese inscriptions in blue haze embroidery on both sides, as well as an Afew tag and a black AFEW GOODS embroidery on the hood.
The black longsleeve has a blue haze embroidery on the chest and a large Daruma print on the back.
The t-shirt is available in two colorways : white and blue haze. On the blue haze iteration, the small AFEW GOODS logo appears embroidered with white thread on blue Japanese inscriptions on the chest and the AFEW logo adorns the bottom right sleeve. The white t-shirt has the AFEW logo embroidered on the chest and is adorned with 24 different little Daruma dolls in blue and red (traditional color) on the back.
The unisex collection Afew Goods x Takumi Ogata « Daruma » will be released on October 17, 2020 at 9:00 am in the AFEW shop and online at 1:00 pm at en.afew-store.com . Prices are set at 110€ for the hoodie, 100€ for the kimono, 60€ for the longsleeve and 45€ for each colorway of the t-shirt. Be ready !
