To start the new year 2021 in style, German giant adidas continues its A-ZX series by presenting us with an elegant ZX 5000 named « Vieux Lyon » corresponding to the letter V. This pair honors the French city of Lyon, where the Jacquard weaving technique was invented.
With this special ZX 5000, adidas would like to pay tribute to this heritage, craftsmanship, design and innovation à la française. And especially to the world-famous weaving technique invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard in 1801. This machine made Jacquard the pioneer of the modernity of the Lyon factory and paved the way for a line of great inventors and innovators of the 19th century.
The shoe is dressed with a woven jacquard upper customized in two colors, divided into two parts. On the lower part of the sneaker, the light grey color includes the toe box, the mudguard and the heel. While the upper part, corresponding to the side panels, the tongue, the under ankle area and the heel tab, has a darker shade tending towards deep purple. The emblematic 3 adidas side stripes appear in white with a pink bottom border. The latter color is applied to the Trefoil logo on the black tongue label, harmonizing the design. To complete the look and homage to the French city, the deubraes are black and pink, and the insole in jacquard voilet is embellished with the adidas tagline « La marque aux trois bandes » ( The Brand Whit the Three Stripes in French). The whole is based on a high-performance cream midsole combined with an icy outsole, revealing the circular French flag under the heel and the black Torsion bar under the midfoot.
