The famous Japanese shop ATMOS has a privileged relationship with the German giant ADIDAS. For their new common project, the 2 faithful partners unveil a new special SAMBA designed in triple collaboration with the Tokyo illustrator FACE.
Popular from 1950 to the present, the Samba also marked FACE’s adolescence. He remembers wearing his older brother’s pair without his permission.
The artist-illustrator has reinterpreted this cult adidas model with a chic yet cool look.
The sneaker consists of a black leather upper with tonal velvet overlays. The side 3-Stripes and the heel tab are dressed in white leather. The upper features details taken from FACE’s artwork : white/yellow daisy-like flower illustrations that appear embroidered. To complete the look, the gold FACE STUDIO branding replaces the usual SAMBA and the tongue is adorned with special lettering that mimics the captions of artworks in museums. The pair is adorned with FACE’s signature touches : iconic « Eyes » are emblazoned on the dubraes and the smiling or sad « Mouth » stands out on the left and right heel respectively. The colorful insole features subtle orange FACE illustrations and black atmos branding. The whole is based on a blackened semi-translucent sole that harmoniously completes the design.
The pair will be accompanied by a white long sleeve t-shirt and a black hoodie. Both are adorned with a special logo that unites the FACE’s illustration of a young boy with a soccer ball and the adidas branding, as well as the mention 44m².
The adidas Originals SAMBA atmos x FACE will be released on November 19, 2022 in atmos shops, in the adidas x atmos collaborative store : A.T.A.D, as well as online at atmos-tokyo.com via an open raffle starting November 14, 2022. Prices are set at $92 (¥13,200) for the Samba, $84 (¥12,100) for the hoodie and $50 (¥7,150) for the t-shirt.
To celebrate the launch, a FACE pop-up will be held at A.T.A.D. B1F starting November 19, 2022. A day earlier, on November 18, a talk show will also be held at A.T.A.D. with FACE, Koji from atmos and campaign photographer Ikeeno Ikeno.
