The famous shop ATMOS and the giant ADIDAS unveil a new triple collaborative project. After the special SUPERTURF designed with the American designer Sean Wotherspoon (article available HERE), the 2 partners invite the Japanese sneaker repair and customization shop RECOUTURE to reinvent 2 cult silhouettes of the adidas brand : the Superstar and the Forum Low.
Shun Hirose, RECOUTURE‘s founding artist and shoemaker, has teamed up with adidas in the past. He has, for example, redesigned the Campus 80s silhouette twice, notably with another famous Japanese shop, mita sneakers (article available on this site).
For this new project, the partners are interested in 2 flagship silhouettes of the adidas catalog and part of the street culture. Very popular, they have left their footprints in all the biggest cities in the world since their debut in the 80s. The Superstar is an icon of the hip-hop scene and the Forum Low quickly became a lifestyle staple after being introduced as a basketball shoe.
These silhouettes have been reworked to highlight the craftsmanship and art of patchwork. In a nod to the OG models, each retains its iconic look while being composed of completely different materials.
The Superstar appears in black with the iconic white side stripes and the Forum Low is dressed in a light white-beige colorway with a matching strap and 3-Stripes.
These uniquely designed shoes feature a patchwork fabric upper. The combination of materials and numerous handmade seams/cuts give these pairs a distinctive look and a three-dimensional effect. The uncut threads throughout the upper pay homage to the craftsmanship of the artisans.
The adidas Originals atmos SH “Recouture” Forum Low & Superstar will be released on different dates. The Forum will be available on November 27, 2021 for 134$ (¥15400) via a raffle set up at atmos-tokyo.com, A.T.A.D and atmos stores. To celebrate the launch of the Superstar on December 11, 2021 (which will cost 125$ (¥14300)), a workshop with RECOUTURE experts will be held at A.T.A.D. a few days before, on November 27 and 28.
