adidas Gil Zero “UNDRCRWN”

The German giant ADIDAS starts the year 2022 with a bang. In addition to continuing its successful partnerships with the prestigious Prada brand and renowned designers such as Jeremy Scott or Kerwin Frost (articles available on this site), the brand with the 3-stripes will release an updated version of the Gil Zero, a signature shoe of the famous NBA player Gilbert Arenas aka Agent Zero.

This silhouette was originally released in 2007 as part of the « It Takes 5IVE » Remix collection designed in triple collaboration with the streetwear brand UNDRCRWN. It was accompanied by 4 other iconic models : Tracy McGrady’s T-Mac 6, Kevin Garnett’s KG Bounce, Tim Duncan’s Stealth Climacool and Chauncey Billups’ C. -Billups. Inspired by UNDRCRWN’s 90’s fetish years, these pairs were dressed in bright colors and adorned with bold prints. Extremely rare, each silhouette was limited to 750 pieces.

After more than 10 years of absence, the 2 partners, adidas and Gilbert Arenas, meet again to present us an improved version of this Gil Zero « UNDRCRWN ».

As a reminder, in 2010 the contract of the basketball player with adidas had ended after he pleaded guilty in court for possession of a firearm.

The UNDRCRWN x adidas Gil Zero returns in Restomod form, updated with modern technology and today’s design elements. It features a white base with pink graphic patterns, complemented by abstract prints combining pink, blue, red and black at the toe and heel overlays, as well as on the tongue. The eyelets and other overlays are presented in solid white and the midsole sports a black and white graphic. As for branding details, black adidas 3-Stripes appear on the back side of the sole and the UNDRCRWN logo stands out in black and orange on the side of the foot. Two-tone black and pink laces and a white outsole complete the look.

The adidas Gil Zero « UNDRCRWN » will be released on January 14, 2022, at select retailers like Foot Locker and on adidas.com, priced at 140$. As the partnership is reactivated, other versions of the adidas Gil Zero should also be re-released… Stay tuned !
