After the success of the New Balance 990v6 ‘Baklava’, the famous “jack-of-all-trades” Action Bronson and the Boston-based brand extend their partnership by introducing a new variation named ‘Lapis Lazuli’.
Action Bronson was inspired by his favorite stone for the design of this exclusive NB 990v6.
While the ‘Baklava’ has a bold multi-colored look, the ‘Lapis Lazuli’ appears more conventional and understated.
Lapis lazuli is a rock containing 3 main elements : lazurite which gives the deep blue color, calcite which brings the white/pearl grey touches and pyrite which adds gold highlights.
The sneaker is mostly dressed in different shades of the color blue. To ensure the tribute to the rock, it’s also adorned with touches of light grey and yellow gold. Specifically, the shoe consists of a dark blue mesh upper, with suede and leather overlays in tone on tone or in lighter shades. Other elements such as the iconic side N logo, under-ankle yoke, tongue tag and inner lining are presented in very light pearl gray. A touch of contrast is provided by round orange-brown rope laces. The whole is based on a comfortable yellowed midsole with a blue section under the heel and a two-tone light blue/light brown outsole.
The Action Bronson x New Balance 990v6 “Lapis Lazuli” is expected to be released in the coming weeks for $210 via specializinginlife.com before being available on newbalance.com, if it follows the same marketing process as the ‘Baklava’.
