The Dr. Martens 1461 has been a counterculture classic since 1961, the year of its creation. Very popular and timeless, this shoe has been, over the years, a source of inspiration for quality collabs. After most recently being reinterpreted by Engineered Garments, the 1461 is presented reworked by AAPE, the popular line from the iconic Japanese streetwear brand BAPE.
Launched in 2012, the sub-label AAPE by A Bathing Ape deepens the Japanese brand’s ties to street culture, while maintaining its principles of creativity and freedom. Considered as the cool little sister of BAPE, this line is rather dedicated to teenagers, it conveys a youthful spirit.
AAPE offers 2 exclusive variations of the Dr. Martens 1461, one Black and the other Olive.
These premium smooth leather shoes feature an engraved AAPE head motif on the toe box, combined with the phrase « SOMEWHERE IN THE AAPE UNIVERSE » that speaks to teen angst. Additional AAPE branding details appear engraved on the back of the heel, above the classic black and yellow Dr. Martens tug. Thin, round laces and a black and yellow AAPE branded tag complete the look. The whole is based on the traditional black stacked sole with yellow stitching.
