After working with Lacoste and BAPE earlier this year, iconic French label A.P.C. adds another legendary brand to its list of collaborators : Japanese sportswear giant ASICS. Jean Touitou, A.P.C.’s founder and creative director, chose to reinterpret the GEL-Sonoma 15-50 silhouette.
This new capsule is part of the A.P.C. brand’s ‘INTERACTION’ series of collaborations.
While BAPE evokes technicality and bright colors, A.P.C. represents the minimalist, even austere aesthetic of contemporary fashion pieces. The challenge of this collaboration was to combine these opposing universes to create a unique piece representing the perfect balance between the styles of the 2 brands.
The asics GEL-Sonoma 15-50 reimagined by A.P.C. comes in 3 ultra-sober colorways with eye-catching and bright details.
The Beige and Black versions feature a predominantly monochromatic upper, accented by laces, woven eyelets and toe box cords in teal or a shade of purple. The look is completed with semi-translucent Tiger Stripes and a black/blue sole for the Black pair and beige/light brown for the Beige iteration.
The 3rd version consists of a white upper with bright blue overlays. Teal laces, semi-translucent Tigers Stripes in purple and a dark blue midsole with a green outsole add a nice touch of boldness to the ensemble.
All 3 pairs feature a co-branded black insole and an innovative common logo ‘A.P.C.’ on one foot and ‘ASICS’ on the other, encapsulated in a plastic bubble on the side heel.
The A.P.C. X ASICS GEL-Sonoma 15-50 trio will be released exclusively on December 9, 2022 in A.P.C. stores and online at apc.com, before being available at select retailers and on asics.com a week later on December 16, 2022. Be ready !
