The popular adidas ZX 8000 silhouette continues to seduce big names of streetwear and sports. After unveiling an overview of the next iteration designed in a triple collaboration with labels UNDEFEATED and NEIGHBORHOOD (article available HERE), adidas has teamed up with German soccer club 1.FC Berlin to design a ZX 8000 in their image.
The shoe celebrates both 1.FC Union Berlin’s 55th anniversary and its partnership with the legendary manufacturer since summer 2019.
It’s dressed in the typical colors of the Berlin club : white and red, with the secondary shades yellow and black. It consists of a bright white mesh upper complemented by light grey nubuck overlays. The TPU eyelets come in red and the iconic adidas 3-Stripes appear in red with yellow outlines. Both colors are also found on the usual tongue branding. The shoe has a red insert on the toe and black underneath the 3 stripes. As a nod to the club’s stadium at the Alte Försterei, the color green is applied to the inner lining. To complete the design, an oversized black UNION inscription covers the back of the heel, it’s protected by a transparent reinforcement. The red laces are embellished with traditional dubraes but also a version made from real iron forged in the southeast of Berlin, home of the club. These little jewels feature engravings of either the Union logo or the adidas brand. To ensure the exclusivity of the collaboration, the insoles were also made in the spirit of the soccer club : one is dressed in red and the other in yellow, and both are adorned with the repeating UNION logo. The look is finalized by a vintage yellowed midsole and a black rubber outsole.
The 1.FC Union Berlin x adidas ZX 8000 is limited to 1966 pairs, a number that corresponds to the German soccer club’s birth year. It will be released on April 21 at 10:00 am (Paris time) exclusively on the adidas app, priced at 120€ and sizesrun EU 35.5 to EU 50 2/3. Don’t sleep !
