L’artiste singapourien Mark Ong, alias SBTG et le fameux retailer de Singapour Limited Edt se sont associés une nouvelle fois à l’équipementier japonais Asics afin de nous présenter une deuxième version de la GEL-Lyte III collaborative sortie en 2018, la Monsoon Patrol. Cette itération 2021 nous a été présentée tout d’abord dans un coloris « Vert Lichen/Gris Piedmont » au mois de décembre 2020 (article disponible ICI). Ensuite, une édition secrète ultra-limitée « Black/Black » pourra être acquise sous certaines conditions et surtout par les plus chanceux !
Tout comme la première version sortie il y a deux ans, cette GEL-Lyte III Monsoon Patrol II s’inspire de la découverte, de l’exploration et de la saison de la mousson à Singapour. Elle clôturera la célébration du 30ème anniversaire de l’iconique silhouette à la languette fendue, avec des mises à jour modernes et recherchées.
Le coloris Black/Black sera exclusif à Singapour et seulement 72 paires seront mises à la disposition du grand public.
La chaussure entièrement noire se compose d’un upper en matériau résistant à l’eau, dans un cuir matelassé au niveau de la toe box et du cache-languette comportant le nom du modèle « Monsoon Patrol » inscrit en blanc. Les panneaux latéraux se parent de daim velu et du daim lisse recouvre les Tiger Stripes. Sous ces dernières et sur l’insole, on retrouve la signature camo de STBG de façon très discrète. L’iconique languette fendue est resserrée par des lacets noirs et le nouveau système de laçage élastique supplémentaire « Rebel Lace Sytem » apparaît de couleur orange vif, apportant une belle touche de contraste. Afin d’assurer une commodité et une fonctionnalité optimales, chaque unité de lacets est agrémentée de bloque-lacets, transparent ou noir. L’ensemble repose sur une midsole crème de technologie GEL légendaire et une outsole noire, finalisant le look.
Afin de pouvoir espérer acquérir cette Monsoon Patrol II noire, il faudra acheter la paire « Vert Lichen/Gris Piedmont ». Une plaque d’identification numérotée est attachée aux chaussures et si son code est gagnant, il donne un accès exclusif à l’achat de la version « Black/Black ».
Autre coup de super chance, une « Golden Card » a été cachée au hasard dans certaines boîtes de la Monsoon Patrol II « Vert Lichen/Gris Piedmont ». Les bénéficiaires obtiendront gratuitement la version noire mais aussi la GEL-Lyte III Monsoon Patrol I de 2018 !
Un petit film d’animation promotionnel a été élaboré afin d’annoncer le lancement de cette sneaker ultra-limitée. Il met en scène, de façon virtuelle, l’artiste Rae (@here.is.rae sur Instagram) qui navigue à travers un paysage tropical pour découvrir la paire noire Monsoon Patrol II.
La Limited Edt x SGBT x Gel LYTE III Monsoon Patrol II « Black/Black » limitée à 72 paires, sera donc disponible après la sortie du coloris « Vert Lichen/Gris Piedmont » le 7 janvier 2021 sur le site du shop www.limitededt.com. La version « Vert Lichen/Gris Piedmont » sera finalement au prix de 130€ et le coloris noir ultra-rare coûtera 155€, sauf pour les chanceux qui l’auront gratuitement grâce à la Golden Card !
Just like the first version released two years ago, this GEL-Lyte III Monsoon Patrol II is inspired by the discovery, exploration and monsoon season in Singapore. It will close the 30th anniversary celebration of the iconic split-tongue silhouette with modern and sought-after updates.
The Black/Black colorway will be exclusive to Singapore and only 72 pairs will be made available to the general public.
The all-black shoe features a water-resistant upper in quilted leather at the toe box and tongue cover with the Monsoon Patrol name in white. The side panels are trimmed in hairy suede and smooth suede covers the Tiger Stripes. Underneath the Tiger Stripes and on the insole, we can find the STBG’s camo signature very discreetly. The iconic split tongue is tightened with black laces and the new « Rebel Lace Sytem » additional elastic lacing system appears in bright orange, adding a nice touch of contrast. For maximum convenience and functionality, each lace unit is embellished with clear or black lace locks. A cream midsole with legendary GEL technology and a black outsole complete the look.
In order to be able to hope to acquire this black Monsoon Patrol II, you will have to buy the pair « Lichen Green/Piedmont Grey ». A numbered identification plate is attached to the shoes and if the code is winning, it gives exclusive access to the purchase of the « Black/Black » version.
Another stroke of super luck, a « Golden Card » has been randomly hidden in some boxes of the Monsoon Patrol II « Lichen Green/Piedmont Grey ». Beneficiaries will get the Black version for free but also the GEL-Lyte III Monsoon Patrol I of 2018 !
