Nike SB poursuit son marathon des collaborations et éditions spéciales sur la fameuse Nike SB Dunk Low. Aujourd’hui, ce dernier rend hommage à un groupe de rock américain « Grateful Dead » et plus précisément au design d’un de leurs albums Live, chargé d’histoire.
Les équipes de Nike SB se sont inspirées d’une série d’ours apparaissant sur l’album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume One (Bear’s Choice) du groupe de rock Grateful Dead. L’album, sorti le 13 juillet 1973, est un hommage à Ron « Pigpen » McKernan, qui est mort pendant la préparation du disque, prévu pour honorer la fin du contrat avec la Warner. Le terme « Bear » (« ours ») est une référence à Owsley Stanley, chimiste « underground » et producteur de l’album. L’illustration de la couverture arrière présente des ours marchant, chacun habillé d’une couleur différente.
Cette SB rend hommage à l’ours vert. Elle se compose d’un upper en daim et en matériaux cotonneux longs de couleur vert flashy. On distingue un swoosh dentelé, de couleur bleue et noire, faisant référence au col de l’ours. On retrouve une poche à fermeture éclair au niveau de la languette. L’ensemble repose sur une semelle intermédiaire verte et une outsole bleue.
La Nike SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead devrait certainement sortir dans le cadre d’un plus grand pack « Grateful Dead Bears » composé de Dunks low aux couleurs des autres ours. Restez connectés.

The Nike SB teams were inspired by a serie of bears appearing on the album History of the Grateful Dead, Volume one (Bear’s Choice) by the rock band Grateful Dead. The album, released on July 13, 1973, is a tribute to Ron « Pigpen » McKernan, who died during the preparation of the record, intended to honor the end of the Warner contract. The term « Bear » is a reference to Owsley Stanley, an « underground » chemist and producer of the album. The illustration on the back cover features walking bears, each dressed in a different colour.
This SB pays tribute to the green bear. It consists of a suede upper and long cottony material of flashy green colour. We see a jagged swoosh, in blue and black colours, referring to the bear’s collar. We find a zippered pocket on the tongue. The whole is based on a green midsole and a blue outsole.
The Nike SB Dunk Low Grateful Dead should certainly be released as part of a larger « Grateful Dead Bears » pack of Dunk Low in the colours of the other bears. Stay tuned.
